Creating Connections
Cavatina has always been an orchestra founded on strong relationships, with lasting friendships formed. We are now aiming to expand this sense of community by bringing Cavatina, and all that it comes with, to Frome and its surrounding villages.
We hope to offer a platform to emerging young artists, providing them with the opportunity to perform to welcoming, and appreciative audiences. We know that this a golden opportunity for musicians at the start of their careers, and we believe that this festival will provide a unique opportunity for young talent to engage with new audiences by bringing music they love to Frome.
This encouragement of young artists does not only begin after they have their minds set on a musical career. A passion for music begins at school, and we firmly believe in the power of education to discover and grow new talent. We therefore hope to collaborate with local schools, offering vocal and instrumental workshops to introduce young people to the joys of music. This will not only give young people a chance to experience music up-close, but through this program we will also aim to broaden audiences, encouraging attendance at classical music concerts, and showing the next generation that music has a firm place in modern society. Cavatina has brought joy to so many young musicians and schools, and we hope to be able to perpetuate and grow this tradition through this festival.
Music is a medium through which composers, performers and audience members can experience emotions, re-live memories, and travel to faraway places. It is therefore in many ways a reflection of, and collaboration with, other art forms, sciences and schools of thought. To capture this multi-faceted element of music, we also hope to work closely with other disciplines. Music can provide solace, or provide a means of expression where words fail. In light of that, Cavatina has had a strong connection with the charity AMREF, putting on opera that raised £11,000 for them. We hope to continue this tradition through the festival and offer the space for people to come to live music events within their community.
